Ben Uwajumogu, Senator representing Imo North Senatorial District has died at the age of 51. Sources say the APC lawmaker died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja. The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has expressed shock and sadness over the tragic news of the death of Senator Ben Uwajumogu who represented Imo North Senatorial District of Imo state until the sad incident on Wednesday.

He was said to have slumped while taking his bath. He was reportedly rushed to a private hospital in Apo, Abuja where he was confirmed dead.

Lawan commiserated with the family of the deceased Senator and the government and people of Imo State over the tragic loss. Lawan also condoled with distinguished senators and friends of the departed senator.

You will recalled that Senator Uwajumogu was full of life at the Senate Chamber on Tuesday, which made the news of his death even more difficult to take.

“Senator Uwajumogu’s sudden death is shocking and a painful loss to the ninth National Assembly where he always made robust contributions to the debates and other activities of the Upper legislative chamber. He will be greatly missed by all of us his colleagues and staff of the Senate,” Lawan said.

The Senate President prayed that God Almighty will comfort his loved ones and grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. Uwajumogu, who was first elected into the senate in 2017, was re-elected in 2019. He was the speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly between 2011 and 2015.

Until his death, he was the senate committee chairman on Labour and employment. He hailed from the Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo state.
