Tribunal sacks APC lawmaker

The election petition tribunal in Cross River State on Tuesday sacked Alex Egbona of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who represents the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The judgment was one of the 10 delivered by a three-man panel of the tribunal led by Justice Vincent Agbata, in a petition instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, John Gaul Lebo.
The tribunal declared Lebo, who came second in the polls, as the candidate with the highest valid votes having considered the APC candidate “not a lawful candidate in the eyes of the law as on the date of the election”.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was also directed to withdraw the Certificate of Return from Egbonna and issue same to Lebo.
