Free-for-all as Shiites storms National Assembly


Members of the Islamic sect, the Shiite movement on Tuesday in their hundreds stormed the National Assembly complex, shot a police officer and a civil defence officer in the process.
The Shiites have besieged the complex to demand immediate release of their spiritual leader, Cleric Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, who has been in continuous incarceration by the Federal Government.
The gates to all the National Assembly premises have since the incident remain shut.
Three of the victims are currently receiving treatment at the National Assembly clinic.
The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan who was presiding during the rout later visited the injured to ascertain the level of injury.
