Despite party cum presidency backing as well as raving senators-elect signature-endosements in support of former Senate Leader, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan’s emergence, Senator Ali Ndume has vowed to pursue his ambition of becoming Nigeria;s President of the Senate in the 9th National Assembly.

Ndume believes that the next Senate President come 11th June, 2019, shall emerge through members’ votes and not party endorsement.
Senator Ndume recalled the 2015 experience whereas despite same party endorsement, Senator Lawan still did not get the senate presidency. Expressing confidence that he will win come June 11, the Borno State lawmaker said that his hope lie in the votes of his colleagues that will give him the coveted seat and n but lookin for votes on election day. This kind of thing has been there all along, we have seen endorsements against several elections. We are there already and shall become past in question of hours from now”. The recent reaction is coming from Senator Ndume a few days when some senators-elect from the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party attended Senator Lawan’s public presentation of his 9th Senate Presidency Agenda at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja on Friday, 9th June, 2019.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago of the House of Representative has declared that for him, the battle for the House Leadership is case of no retreat, no surrender. Hon. Bago vowed not to step down for anyone in the race for the speakership of the 9th House of Representatives. Bago who represents Chanchaga federal constituency of Niger State, stated that he represents an alternative to what he described as the All Progressive Congress’s wrong choice of zonig the position to the Southwest region.
