SENATOR SARAKI APPOINTED INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AMBASSADOR

President of the Senate, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has been nominated as International Human Rights Commission (IHRC) ”Ambassador-At-Large”.

According to the Media Office of Senate President, Saraki’s appointment was conveyed via a letter dated 16th March, 2019 by the Diplomatic Head of the Commission to Nigeria and other African countries.

The multi-national body notes that while the regional body drives to promote and encourage human dignity, it acknowledges its Nigerian team over its resolute efforts in the stability of the nation and Senator Saraki’s firm leadership of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria adjudged to be among the most proactive parliaments across the globe.

IHRC’s Head for Nigeria and Africa Region, Ambassador Friday Sani, while commending the nominee said, “besides, the Commission is not unmindful of the maturity that you recently displayed in the face of an obvious provocation in your constituency during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections”.

By the new appointment, Dr. Bukola Saraki is expected to lead the diplomatic team of the IHRC across the world.
