SENATE DEBATES 2019 APPROPRIATIONS BILL

The commences debate on the 2019 appropriation bill on Wednesday 13/3/2019. The President of the Senate, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki announced this at Tuesday’s sitting that the debates of the general principles of the 2019 Appropriation Bill just as upper chamber adjourned plenary in honour of late House of Representatives member, Hon. Temitope Olatoye representing Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency of Oyo State who had died on March 9, 2019 as a result of gunshots into his eyes by suspected thugs. Senator Saraki also mandated the senate ad-hoc committee on new minimum wage to fasten its work speed and conclude the assignment. In that regard, the Senate President directed the vice chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Senator Francis Alimikhena to over the chairmanship of the committee in the absence of the substantive chair, Senator Olusola Adeyeye. It will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had on December 19, 2018, presented a budget proposal of N8.83 trillion Naira for the 2019 fiscal year before a joint session of the National Assembly.
