Court of Appeal sitting at Abuja has declared Distinguished Senator Ayogu Eze as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Enugu State Governorship election holding on Saturday, March, 9. Meanwhile, APC Enugu State chapter had on March 7, 2018, staged a protest at the INEC office in Enugu asking for the removal of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Emeka Ononamadu whom the party accused of bias. Chairman of the APC Enugu chapter who led the protesting party members demanded the immediate removal of the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for masterminding the removal of some electoral materials from the Central Bank and not allowing them to inspect the sensitive materials. The state party chairman, Mr. Nwoye called on the REC to tender his resignation or face stiff opposition in Saturday’s election. He also called on Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and other authorities to facilitate the REC’s removal. Reacting to the APC chairman, the Enugu State REC, Mr. Ononamadu said no amount of intimidation or blackmail against the Commission would stop the conduct of gubernatorial and state assembly elections on Saturday, March, 2019.
